UW CIPE has the pleasure to announce that two projects were accepted for scholarship awarding through the Mischler IPE Scholarship for the 2023 awarding period.
Dr. Mischler generously provided the UW CIPE with an IPE Scholarship fund, and three students were awarded with this year’s Elaine Mischler MD Interprofessional Education Scholarship. The goal of the scholarship is for students from a health/social-related professional program complete an immersion experience to learn more and contribute to interprofessional team-based practice, education, and research.
Scholarship Criteria for Proposed Projects to be Funded:
- An immersion experience in learning and contributing to interprofessional team-based practice, education and/or research.
- Aligned with the mission and core values of the UW CIPE:
• Focus on one or more aspects of the Quadruple Aim (Better Health, Better Care, Better Value, and Better Work Experience)
• Involve members/students from two or more professions in learning and working together to improve collaboration and quality of services
• Promote Creativity, Competence, Community Engagement, and/or Collaboration
2023 Recipients:
The first scholarship was awarded to a team of two students, Claudia (Dia) Miller, a class of 2024 Nursing- TBSN student, and Alankrit Shatadal, a class of 2026 Medicine student. Additionally, both Dia and Alankrit are members of the UW IPE Path of Distinction Program. Dia & Alankrit’s project aims to integrate human-health wellness awareness and resources to the already existing WisCares Clinic which is a community veterinary clinic for low income and homeless families.
The second scholarship was awarded to Uzma Khan, MS, who is working towards a PhD in Rehabilitation Counselor Education. Uzma’s project aims to create an interprofessional learning experience around the topic of rehabilitation and climate change as it relates to persons with pre-existing disabilities and chronic conditions. This project, at its start, will be in the form of an online module which will be piloted by students in different healthcare and social-care fields.
