In collaboration with the Kern National Network (KNN) and UW-Madison’s School of Pharmacy and School of Medicine and Public Health, UW CIPE is proud to announce the return of Bridging Across Differences Toward Flourishing: Perspectives for Academic Medicine this Spring 2026, following a successful 2025 pilot. UW-Madison health and social care students, faculty, and staff may register here!
This FREE course contains six lessons, including modules such as “Cultivating Intellectual Humility” and “Exploring Worldviews.” Additionally, this curriculum integrates activities and peer-to-peer discussions in which learners can practice acquired skills with a conversation partner. The overall goal is to equip students, faculty and staff from all health/social sciences programs with the skills and tools to find strength in different perspectives and collectively work together to solve pressing challenges in the field.
This offering takes place starting December 2025 and runs through March 2026. Deadline for enrollment is January 30, 2026. You will complete the asynchronous online modules first, at your own pace, from December2025 – February 2026. In March 2026, you will participate in at least one peer-to-peer, virtual, synchronous discussion group to practice skills learned from the course. All course components are virtual.
Discussion topics include:
- Vaccine Uptake and Usage
- Fat Shaming and Body Size Bias
- Ableism and Disability Discrimination
- Addiction and Substance Use Negative Stereotypes
You may register for this offering before 1/30/26 at the following link: https://bit.ly/KNNBRIDGESUP
Learners are also welcome and encouraged to attend a special input session with representatives from the Kern National Network on January 20, 3:00-4:00pm, at Signe Skott Cooper Hall/the School of Nursing building. To receive an invite to this optional session, please indicate your interest in the linked registration form above.
UW-Madison’s School of Medicine and Public Health is one of nine U.S. medical schools selected to participate in KNN’s Bridging Across Differences Toward Flourishing, a national demonstration project to advance open inquiry and respectful discourse in academic medicine.
