You are invited to attend the Knowledge Exchange Series: Crossing the Hallway: Weight Bias and Expanding Health Education Towards Equitable Futures.  This event is FREE to attend and will take place on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 5:00-7:30 pm in the School of Nursing; refreshments will be served starting at 4:30 pm. Free parking is available nearby in Lot 60 starting at 4:30 pm.

Kate Phelps, PhD, (she/they) Teaching Faculty in the UW Gender and Women’s Studies department, and scholar and professor of this topic will lead and engage a panel of guest speakers who are working, advocating, and researching within this space during this event.

  • Describe fat studies as a framework.
  • Explain macro and social science approaches to fatness.
  • Explore size-inclusive practice across clinical settings, including family medicine, psychiatry, psychology, and midwifery.

  • Share lived experiences of embodiment into the dialogue.
  • Connect individuals to systems in this space.
